Kumasi, Jan. 20, GNA - Three teacher training institutions earmarked for Educational Resources Centres in cocoa growing areas in the country have received electronic and Information Technology (IT) equipment worth over 65 million cedis from three international Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
The donors are International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH), Ghana, HERSHEY, based in the United States of America (USA) and World Cocoa Foundation. Each of the beneficiary colleges, Wesley College (WESCO) in Kumasi, Sefwi-Wiawso Training College in the Western region and Bechem Training College in the Brong-Ahafo region, received a Canon photocopier, an HP Desk Jet Printer, a Hewlett Packard PC and Laminating Machine.
This was contained in a release issued in Kumasi on Friday and signed on behalf of the beneficiary colleges by Mr B.F. Anyan, Principal of WESCO.
It expressed appreciation to the donors for assisting the institutions to facilitate teaching and learning not only for staff and students but people in the cocoa growing areas as well. The release called on stakeholders in education and benevolent organizations to furnish the centres with television sets, video decks and power points to enable them provide quality education to their learners.
"Our staff and students who come from cocoa growing areas go back there to put into practice what they learnt. We hope farmers as well as their wards will benefit well from your support," it added.
