Teachers complain about persistent defecation at school

Betinko (Ash), June 1, GNA - Teachers at Betinko in the Atwima Mponua District have threatened to withdraw their services unless the persistent defecation in classrooms by some unscrupulous people in the community was stopped.

They also appealed to the people to prevent their animals from invading the school compound during school hours. The teachers, who made these remarks at an educational forum held at Betinko to discuss problems affecting the development of education in the area, expressed regret that several dialogues with the community leaders could not solve the problem.

Mr Baffour Asare-Bediako, an Assistant Director of Education in charge of Human Resource Management and Development, called on the community leaders to take immediate measures to stop the practices.

Mr Peter Appiagyei, a member of the Unit Committee of the town, gave the assurance that those committing the offences would be arrested. Nana Kwasi Manu, Chief of the town, called on the people to create a favourable climate for academic work and a 120 million cedi quarters would be built for teachers, especially the newly posted ones. This, he said, would solve the present of teachers coming from Nkawie and Abuakwa to teach in the community.
