Teachers in Ho demonstrate against Single Spine Salary Structure

Ho, March 4, GNA - Teachers in the Ho Municipality on Thursday took to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the implementation of the Single Spine Salary Structure. Some of the placards read: 93No spine no BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination)," 93All die be die," 93Bitter Ghana for teachers," We mean well we don't mean war," and 93Mills beware teach= ers influence elections." Their first point of call was the Volta Regional Education Directorate, where Mr David Gellie, a teacher read a six- point resolution and planned actions to the authorities. Mr Emmanuel Keteku, Municipal Director of Education urged the demonstrators to exercise restraint while their grievances were being addressed.

The teachers moved to the premises of the Regional Co-ordinating Council, where the Regional Minister Mr Joseph Amenowode told them that President John Evans Atta Mills was sincere in his commitment to improve their working conditions.
