Accra, July 28, GNA - Mr Michael Nsowah, Acting Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), on Friday asked teachers to refrain from using contractors to set examination questions for their pupils and students.

Mr Nsowah, who was speaking at an Open Day organized by the Nsawam Methodist Basic Schools to raise funds for the construction of new classroom block and a place of convenience, said the practice demeaned the integrity of teachers as professionals.

He reminded parents that the introduction of the Capitation Grant was not the end of their responsibility towards their children and said it was still the duty of parents to complement Government's efforts by providing the basic school needs of their children.

The Acting GES Director-General said the future of children was very important and everything must be done to secure that. He asked the pupils to be disciplined in all that they did to enable them to become better citizens in the future.

Mr Forster Gyamfi, Headmaster of the school, called on the District Assembly to check the encroachment on the school's land by the public, which sometimes disturbed teaching and learning. He pleaded with the District's Education Directorate to improve the infrastructure facilities to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
