Bolgatanga, Oct. 30, GNA - The Zonal Chairman of the Bolgatanga Central National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Mr Robert Yeli-Oni, has expressed regret about the current impasse between striking teachers and the Government.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Bolgatanga on Monday, he said NAGRAT was not comfortable with the strike and called on the Government to solve the problem once and for all to pave way for teaching and learning.

Mr Yeli-Oni noted that the country's manpower resource base would suffer greatly if Government refused to pay more attention to the plight of teachers who constituted the backbone of the country's development. When GNA visited some secondary schools in the region, there were no classes going on. Most of the students were studying on their own and almost the entire primary and Junior Secondary Schools were closed down. Many of the students interviewed indicated that they had no choice than to study on their own and appealed to the Government and teachers to resolve their disagreements.
