The head of the Inspectorate Unit of the Northern Regional Directorate of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah, has observed that teaching and learning materials are crucial in effective education delivery and commended NGOs who have been assisting in promoting education in the country.

He has subsequently urged district directors of education to ensure that teachers prepare lesson notes when teaching to ensure improved education delivery.

Alhaji Abah made the observation when World Vision Ghana (WVG), an international non-governmental organisation, presented educational materials to the Northern Regional Directorate of Education to improve teaching and learning.

The materials included 60,928 copies of Science, Mathematics and English Language textbooks covering basic level education and 13,214 (129 boxes) of educational materials such as rulers, compasses, protractors and science kits for practical studies, all estimated at 800,000 U.S dollars

The beneficiary districts are, West Gonja, Tolon, Zabzugu, Saboba, Gushegu, and Karaga districts and the Savelugu/Nanton Municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Savelugu/Nanton, Alhassan Abdulai Red said the items would help to improve the standard of education in the beneficiary districts.

The Operations Co-ordinator of World Vision Ghana, Mr Daniel Salifu, noted that the organisation was committed to promoting the well-being of children and would continue to engage with partners to deliver better opportunities for children in the country.
