Techiman "Apoo" festival get support

Mr. James Bukari Basintale, the General Manager of Northern Business of MTN, has said it was important for Ghanaians to promote and protect the nation’s culture and traditions .

He said the celebration of festivals helped to build the community in particular and the nation at large.

Mr Basintale said this when he presented a cheque for GH¢3,000 and crates of soft drinks to Techiman Traditional Council in connection with the just-ended celebration of the annual “Apoo” festival of the chiefs and people.

The celebration was under the theme, “Tolerance, a key to stability and development in a democratic state”.

Mr. Basintale said as a true African multinational company, MTN was committed to supporting rich African traditions and cultures, such as the “Apoo” festival.

The company also donated GH¢25,000 towards the organisation of activities including gala football tournament, yellow village, health walk, tree planting and musical shows during the celebration.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, commended the company for the support and appealed to other stakeholders to help accelerate the development of the area.**
