Techiman Divisional Chiefs urged to be development oriented

Techiman (B/A), April 13, GNA - Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, has stressed the need for his Divisional Chiefs to be development oriented and to initiate programmes that would improve upon the living standards of their people.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw was addressing his Divisional Chiefs and Elders when Nana Yaw Frimpong, Chief of Kenten, near Techiman, swore the oath of allegiance to him at his palace in Techiman.

The newly installed chief, a 45-year-old Driver, who workers with the Diamono Business Company Limited at Techiman and known in private life as Mr Yaw Kramo succeeded his late uncle, Nana Kofi Boadu, who died in January this year.

He said as traditional rulers and leaders of communities, it behoved them to leave behind a better legacy that would be remembered by posterity at all times and God would also bless them for their able leadership roles.

Oseadeeyo Akumfi-Ameyaw urged them to bring all the ethnic groups in their localities together without discrimination to win their trust and confidence.

He advised the people to rally behind the new chief and offer him the necessary support to enable him to rule well. The Omanhene cautioned the youth of the area to desist from organising against people in authority saying the negative practice had affected the development of many areas.

Nana Frimpong declared his readiness to serve the people from the bottom of his heart and, therefore, appealed to the people to join hands with him to enable him to serve them to their expectations. He pledged to address the challenges facing the people and called on the Techiman Municipal Assembly to design programmes that would move the Kenten Community forward.

Before Nana Frimpong swore the oath of allegiance to the Omanhene, the Kingmakers and Family Heads of the Kenten Royal Family pledged their support for the new chief, among them were Nana Akokohwede Amankwa and Nana Kwabena Manu, who is the Chief Linguist of the Kenten Chief.
