Techiman Garages Association receives OF government’s support

The Techiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Alex Kyeremeh has expressed his commitment to support Eurika Garages Association for the training of apprentices in the Techiman Municipality. Mr. Kyeremeh also assured workers at Techiman Magazine that his office will do everything possible to improve upon the facilities such as water, electricity and other social amenities at the site.

According to the MCE, the private sector plays a pivotal role in the nation’s development hence there is the need to take a very critical look at that sector and appealed to workers to upgrade their knowledge to enable them to face the test of time. He noted that in this modern time, things change rapidly and as such there is the need for everybody to do a little extra in his or her place of work in order not to be left behind by modern technology

Hon. Kyeremeh made these remarks during his maiden familiarization tour in the Techiman Site of the Eurika Garages Association. The MCE’S tour was aimed at acquainting himself with the activities there and also gets first hand information of their challenges.

The MCE, who is also former MP for Techiman North, donated 20 sets of street lights and other electrical gadgets worth several thousands of Ghana Cedis on behalf of GTZ a German non-governmental organization in Ghana to the Association.

He appealed to the youth to take advantage of the government’s interventions aimed at training more youth to become responsible citizens in future. The MCE also charged on apprentices to be committed to their work and pledged to expand and train more youth. Mr. Kyeremeh noted that reducing poverty can be attained if the youth are given the requisite skills needed on the job market.

On his part, the Chairman for the Eurika Garages Association in Techiman, Mr. John Nkrumah announced that the Association has secured about 300 acres of land to be given to the members to establish their workshops for the training of more apprentices.

Mr. Nkrumah also added that Eurika Garages which came into existence about 15 years ago has trained thousands of Ghanaian youth in the various fields of the mechanic business. He called on the municipal assembly for the provisions of computer laboratory to train their members to enable them service the modern vehicles. He also appealed to government to help them access more loans the enable them train more people.
