Lawra, Feb. 2, GNA - The Techiman Traditional Council in the Brong Ahafo Region has given a piece of land to the Lawra Traditional Council, in the Upper West Region, to build a residence for their Chiefs to ease their stress during their travels to the southern part of the country. The gesture is to strengthen and sustain the cordial relationship between the two traditional areas for their mutual benefits. The Akwamuhene, Nana Owusu Gyare II, a representative of the Techimanhene, announced this at the outdooring of Naa Puowele Karbo III, Paramount Chief of the Lawra Traditional Area, on Sunday at Lawra. He said there were many citizens from the Lawra Traditional Area who were resident in the Techiman Traditional Area and engaged in farming and other economic ventures thus contributing immensely to the development of the area.
Nana Owusu Gyare said it was, therefore, prudent to give a permanent residential place for the Chiefs to always come and interact with their people as well as with the Techiman Traditional Council for peaceful co-existence.
Naa Karbo thanked the Techimanhene and the Traditional Council for the gesture and gave the assurance that his traditional council would mobilise resources to put up a palace to serve as a symbol of unity between the two traditional councils.
He said the relationship between the two traditional areas had been a long standing one and pledged to promote it to the highest level for the mutual benefits of the people.
Nana Owusu Gyare, on behalf of the Techimanhene and the traditional council, presented cash and drinks to Naa Karbo.
