Techiman (B/A), July 29, GNA - Techiman Urban Council within the Techiman District collected 41 million cedis in revenue within the first six months of the year as against 16.9 million cedis it collected during the same period last year, Mr Davis Boamah-Asumadu, Chairman of the Council said.

Addressing the second-quarterly meeting of the Council at Techiman he attributed the improved performance to the recruitment of more revenue collectors and public education programmes on local FM radio stations.

Mr Boama-Asumadu said the Council could implement most of its policies and initiated a number of development projects. The projects included the provision of three million cedis worth of materials to Asantanso Junior Secondary School, two million cedis to Forikrom Market and the provision of 4.4 million cedis towards the rehabilitation of Fiaso Day-Care Centre.

Mr Boamah-Asumadu said the Council had constituted the Techiman Physical Planning Oversight Committee to check the haphazard building of structures and erection of kiosks.

He appealed to members of the Committee to work tirelessly towards the realisation of the objectives of the Council.

Nana Kwaw Adams, Treasurer of the Council, asked the people to pay their taxes to enable the Council to complete its projects.
