Akim Oda (E/R), Sept. 29, GNA – Ten young ladies who successfully went through a three-year apprenticeship training in dressmaking have graduated at a ceremony at Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality.
The President of the Birim Central branch of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA), Madam Comfort Frimpong presented certificates to the graduands and advised them to use the skills acquired to earn a decent living and to cater for their families in future.
She congratulated them for their perseverance during the training period and expressed the hope that it would become beneficial to them when they set up their own small-scale enterprises.
Madam Frimpong urged the youth to embark on vocational training to enhance their lot, instead of drifting to urban centres in search of non-existent jobs.
She appealed to financial institutions within the Municipality to lend money to those interested in establishing their own private enterprises, and urged young entrepreneurs to form co-operatives to enable them to benefit from such loans.
The GHABA President advised the graduands to be courteous to their clients, so as to attract or win more customers and also advised the young ladies to refrain from indiscriminate and casual sex to avoid teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS.
