Residents of Krowor, Ledzokuku, La, Nungua, Teshie and their environs, are calling for a reliable timetable in the wake of a water rationing exercise that has hit those areas.

Alternative arrangements have been put in place by the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) as a result of the shutdown of the Accra Desalination Plant located at Teshie.

However the residents want a more reliable schedule for the provision of water.

“We also recommend that a more elaborate timetable for the weekly supply should be discussed and published for residents to know the actual days for the supply of water. We also recommend that another supplementary arrangement for water tankers at a subsidised price should be made for schools, hospitals, businesses and residents,” a statement signed and released by Spokesperson for Nungua Teshie Labadi Residents Coalition (NUTELARC), Gideon Tettey Tetteh, stated on Monday, January 29.

The group also indicated that the “facts and figures” laid before members by GWCL demands imperative efforts to have residents conserve water, pay their bills and desist from engaging in illegal connections.

“This is also to buttress the microscopic research stating the likelihood of Ghana importing water by 2030 if measures are not put in place to curb negative practices polluting the country’s water bodies,” the statement noted.

They are also calling for more collaborative efforts to help solve the water crises.
