Nene Abram Kabu Akuoku III, President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, has inaugurated a three-member Fact-finding Committee to look into the Teshie chieftaincy dispute.

The Committee has Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Paramount Chief as Chairman with Nene Manklalo Kanor Atiapa III and Nene Atsure Benta III, both of the Great Ningo and Prampram Traditional Areas as members. It has three months to present its report.

In his inaugural address, Nene Akuoku said maintaining peace in the region has become paramount hence the committee to look into the Teshie chieftaincy litigation.

He urged the members not to adjudicate, but work as a fact-finding committee.

Dr Henry Seidu Danaa, Minister of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, who was the guest speaker, commended the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs for the initiative to find a solution to the Teshie chieftaincy problem.

He said in 2004, there were as many as 117 chieftaincy disputes within the region, but it has been reduced drastically with the creation of six new paramouncies, including Ngnleshie, Osu, La, Teshie, Nungu and Tema.

He said, however, there are still problems with Teshie and Ga-Mashie paramountcies.

Dr Danaa called on the chiefs to maintain peace to create investor-friendly environment for a speedy economic progress of the region and the country as whole.
