The country cannot be developed if we do not change our economic principles

The Northern Regional Minister, Honorable Alhaji Mohammed- Muniru Limuna has remarked that the country cannot be developed if we do not change our economic trajectory as a nation.

According to him repeating the same economic principles and doing the same things have proven that we cannot move forward as a country, if we do not have a paradigmn shift in our economic fundamentals, He opined.

Honorable, Alhaji Mohammed- Muniru Limuna, made these remarks during the 58th independence anniversary celebration in the Northern Regional Capital, in Tamale, under Theme: “Achieving Transformation through National Unity,”

He remarked that his Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama, administration under the National Democratic congress(NDC) aims at making the country an export driven economy rather than an import driven one.

This he said would advanced the so-cio economic and infrastructural development of the nation for the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

CHALENGES

He stressed that the poor standards in education , poor quality of health, poor Agricultural productivity, lack of portable water among others and the famous ‘Dumsor’ or power rationing, can only be blamed on the nation years of neglect.

“We have over the years continued to scratch “surfaces” of these problems and allowed the ‘under’ to fester and rot. The result is the price we are paying today as a nation” He Bemoaned

To these, He Assured the Ghanaian publics that President John Dramani Mahama, administration would not attempt to scratch any problem or managed any issue but rather fixed them forever.

On the road sector, He said available records indicate a down ward trend in the of number road accidents on our roads, saying that the number of people killed are from 167 in 2013 to 124 in 2014.

Alhaji Lemuna, further indicated that the number of crashes has also declined from 247 in 2013 to 209 in 2014, adding that all efforts should be made by the players in the road sector to continue to whittle down most of the avoidable carnages in the region.

He said as Ghanaians we should endeavor in our quest to inculcate in us the virtues and the ideals of Osagyifo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who relentlessly fort for Ghanas independence in 1957, in order to move the country forward.

The event was marked with school children filing the March pass with the security agencies in the region, whiles there was a taekwando and gymnastic display to the admiration of gathering public and the dignitaries at the event.
