Third edition of International Menstrual Hygiene Day Sanitary Pad project held at Manso Adubia SHS

The Amansie South District Assembly hosted the Luv FM’s third edition of the International Menstrual Hygiene Day Sanitary Pad project at Manso Adubia SHS.

A programme aimed at reducing the incidence of teenage pregnancies, educating young girls/teenagers on personal hygiene during their menstrual cycle and the myths surrounding menstruation.

The District Chief Executive, Lawyer Clement Opoku Gyamfi seized the opportunity to admonish young girls who were present to take their studies seriously and open up to their mistresses and caretakers whenever they are in need during their menstruation periods.

Clement Opoku Gyamfi promised that the Assembly would set up a Sanitary Pad Bank at the District Assembly at the Social Welfare Department and donate five boxes of sanitary pads monthly and pleaded with the Amansie Rural Bank PLC to also support the call.

David Akwertey, the Acting Programs Director of Luv FM, highlighted the need to embark on such activity.

He added that the following items worth Seventy Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₡70,000).

1. 1130 Eco reusable sanitary pads

2. 600 pieces of panty pads

3. 10 boxes of disposable sanitary pads

4. 100 pieces of small plastic containers and 5 boxes of black man soap

The young girls who were present were taught how to use and care for the reusable menstrual pads.

The girls were so excited about their new pads knowing that, in the next year they may not buy new pads.
