Tensions surrounding the ongoing NDC constituency elections in Atwima Kwanwoma intensified on Saturday, October 24, 2026, after three individuals allegedly slaughtered a ram at the Twedie Technical Institute voting centre.

The individuals reportedly invoked curses against persons they accused of manipulating the delegates’ album, including the alleged removal of about 700 delegates and the addition of individuals from outside the constituency.

According to eyewitnesses, the group arrived at the centre with the animal and carried out the act in the presence of party members and security personnel. The leader allegedly poured schnapps on the ground and used eggs while invoking curses against those believed to be connected to the controversy.

The group reportedly left the scene in a waiting taxi with the remains of the ram. Their identities and alleged affiliations had not been established at the time of reporting.

The incident has heightened concerns about the credibility and transparency of the electoral process. Atwima Kwanwoma has 2,160 registered delegates, with 63 aspirants contesting 29 executive positions.

Party authorities are yet to officially comment on the alleged removal of delegates or the incident at the voting centre.

Meanwhile, despite the curses arising from the dispute over the delegates’ album, the election continued, with all delegates expected to cast their votes by 5:00 p.m., when the results are expected to be declared.
