Three armed robbers arraigned before court

Three armed robbers were on Wednesday arraigned before the Suhum Magistrate's court, presided over by Lt. Col. (rtd) Alex Kofi Ayeh.

The accused persons, Isameal Atua, 22, Appiah Twum, 22 and Samuel Dankwa, 20, charged with attempted robbery and robbing, pleaded not guilty and were remanded in custody to re-appear before the court on February 4.

According to the prosecution, Police Inspector L.M. Zokotto, on January 16, the accused person and others now at large attacked one Mr Daniel Daah, a driver and the wife Madam Comfort Daah at their resident at Suhum New town whilst asleep in attempt to rob them.

He said the accused persons armed with riffles and dangerous weapons used cement block to break the main door and managed to enter the room.

He said Madam Comfort Daah, who heard an unusual noise in the room woke up and raised an alarm and in the process, one of the armed robbers shot her in the breast.

He said the victim has since been admitted at the Suhum government hospital.

Inspector Zokotto said the accused persons not satisfied, on the same day attacked one Mr Kofi Tawiah and the wife, Madam Dora Nyarko at their residence at Suhum Ayerkotse and made away with their personnel effects worth ten million cedis and a cash of 390,000 cedis.

He said the accused person and others now at large used cement blocks to break one of the main doors of the room and asked the couple to lie on the floor.

He said two of the armed robbers were standing at the entrance of the door whilst the others were collecting the items into a waiting vehicle.

He said after collecting the items one of the armed robbers tied the couple with a rope and bolted.

He said a sister of the couple who was hiding in one of the rooms identified three of the armed robbers and made a report to the police and they were later arrested at their hideout and charged with the offence.
