Agona Kwanyako (C/R), March 29, GNA - Three Divisional Chiefs in the Agona East District have blamed the Agona East District Assembly for not inviting them to the recent inauguration of the assembly. They are Nana Kojo Amuakwa V, Duakwahene and Krontihene of Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Ampim Darko V, Kwanyakohene and Kyidomhene of Nyakrom Traditional Area and Nana Yamfo Asuako X, Asafohene and Nifahene of Nyakrom Traditional Area. The chiefs told a news conference that their counterparts from the Nsaba Traditional Area, the district capital, were formally invited and they attended.

Nana Kojo Amuakwa described the Assembly's action as discriminatory and demanded an explanation. "We were even not consulted in the selection of the 30 percent government appointees to the assembly and do not know our representatives in the Assembly," he said.

Nana Kojo Amuakwa said even though they are traditionally under the Nyakrom Traditional Area in the Agona West Municipality, they form part of the newly created Agona East District and should be contacted in daily activities of the Assembly

The chiefs said because of their absence at the inauguration of the Assembly, they do not know the new District Chief Executive and the Presiding Member and expressed the hope that the two personalities would visit them during their familiarization tour of the district. When GNA contacted Mr Osei Asibe, District Coordinating Director for Agona East on the matter, he said it was an oversight on the part of the assembly.

He said the error was detected when the function was in progress and that it would not be repeated.
