Three communities in Ga District get good drinking water

Abokobi (G/A), Mar 25, GNA- Mr. Samuel Nii Aryeetey Attoh, Ga District Chief Executive on Wednesday commended the Royal Danish Embassy for its assistance towards the provision of water and sanitation projects in the district.

He was commissioning a 3.79 billion cediS DANIDA-sponsored pipe-borne water facility for Abokobi, Oyarifa and Teiman in the Ga district of the Greater Accra Region.

The assembly and the three communities contributed a total of 164.5 million cedis as their counterpart fund for the project. Mr. Attoh said last year, the assembly was supported to develop a Five-year Medium Term District Water and Sanitation Plan to facilitate water and sanitation delivery.

He said besides, DANIDA also provided the assembly with a Nissan pick-up to enhance activities of the water and sanitation sector of the district.

Mr. Attoh added that DANIDA has also facilitated a number of training programmes for various categories of staff of the District Water and Sanitation team, the Works department and the Budget and Planning Unit.

He assured the people that the assembly is well focused to ensure that the roles and responsibilities outlined within the general framework of the Community Water and Sanitation Programme (CWSP) is effectively carried out to meet its targets.

Mr. Nortey Yeboah, the Presiding Member of the assembly who chaired the function commended the people of the three communities for their self-help spirit and urged them to keep it up.

He assured them that the assembly was prepared to support communities who initiate their own projects and urged them to patronize the on-going voters' registration exercise.
