Three-unit classroom block inaugurated at Akyeremanteng

Akyeremanteng (E/R), Dec 30, GNA - Dr (Mrs) Eugenia Danquah-Quist, the Akuapem North District Chief Executive, has inaugurated a 230-million-cedi three-unit classroom block for the Akyeremanteng Local Authority Primary School.

Speaking at the function on Wednesday, Dr Danquah-Quist said the district assembly had build 18 three-unit classroom blocks in the Okere constituency part of the district.

The assembly is also building two teachers' quarters at Akuni and at Abiriw.

Dr Danquah-Quist appealed to the Parent/Teacher Association of the school and the School Management Committee to protect the school block from being turned into a den of Indian hemp smokers and sanctuary of immoral activities.

Dr Danquah-Quist advised the people of Akyeremanteng to register with the Akuapem North Mutual Health Insurance Scheme and that people who had subscribed to the scheme and fully paid their premium had started benefiting from the scheme since September 2004. Hajia Katumi Mahama, the District Director of Education, appealed to the Odikro of the community to ban children from attending wake-keepings.

Nana Okuampah 111, Apiredehene, thanked the assembly for providing the community with a school block.

He also thanked the teachers for accepting to teach in such a rural community and urged parents in the area to support the teachers so that they would help improve teaching and learning in the community.
