Tigo gives to Ankaful Leprosarium

Mobile Telecom Operator, Tigo, donated assorted items and souvenirs worth over GHc6,000 to the Ankaful Leprosarium in the Central Region recently as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The items presented include Tigo branded souvenirs, food stuffs, toiletries, medical items, clothes and bedding.

In a statement to the Ghana News Agency on Friday, James Nyarko, Tigo's Brands Image Coordinator for the Western territory, who made the donation said, "Tigo seeks to touch the valuable lives of our customers, communities and the nation as a whole.

"Under our supporting communities, improving lives CSR (corporate social responsibility) agenda the company has also constructed hospital units, with the Atwima Mponua District Hospital being a test case."

Tigo ended their visit to the Central Region with a choral festival dubbed: "Intellecto" which brought together choral groups from universities across the country. The lepers socialized and interacted with the students and went on to say that they felt blessed to be accepted and recognized by Tigo and the students.

A public health nurse at the Ankaful hospital, Mrs. Rosemond Odoom received the items on behalf of the Leprosarium and applauded Tigo for its support towards the development of the country.

She also said they would forever be grateful to Tigo for coming to their aid when they needed it the most and also stole the opportunity to encourage other corporate bodies to imitate that habit of giving to the leprosarium since it received the least attention.
