A tipper truck with registration number GN 258-11 has run into one of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) poles located at Dawa in the Greater Accra Region.

The incident happened on Thursday, September 5, 2024, causing a power outage that affected a number of customers.

The damaged pole is part of the electricity distributor's new network it is constructing to support supply to Dawa, Ada, and surrounding areas.

The affected parts have, however, been isolated, and all customers have their supply restored.

The pole, a tubular one, got bent, and the company is working on replacing it as soon as possible as part of the ongoing construction works.

The cost of replacement is estimated at GHC22,000.

The Regional Engineer of the ECG in Tema, Ing. Michael Buabin, indicated that the issue is yet to be reported to the police for further investigation and action.

"We are currently unsure of what exactly happened for the driver to have gone off the road to cause such damage. We would, however, want to send a general caution to drivers to always exercise safety on the roads and to be careful when driving," he said.
