The Communications Directorate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira Constituency of the Western Region have refuted media reports that suggest that the husband of Tourism Minister, Mr. Seth Afeku went on rampage by pulling a pistol on one sub-chief at Nsein Traditional Council, Nana Koomson to kill him.

The Communications Directorate's statement is in reaction to a news item published by online news portal, metrotvonline.com Thursday, July 26, 2018, claiming that the husband of the Tourism Minister on Sunday, July 22, went on rampage causing mayhem at the palace of the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Council, Awulea Agyevi Kwame II for pulling a pistol on one of Awulea's sub-chief, Nana Koomson at Nsein to kill him.

The story was captioned, "Minister's husband pulls out gun to kill Chief at Palace".

According to the news portal, "The reason for the commotion was as a result of his indiscipline attitude exhibited in front of both the Omanhene, the western regional minister, MCE for Nzema East and the Member of Parliament Madam Catherine Afeku last Sunday when the MP (Catherine Afeku), led by the Regional Minister went to beg for forgiveness from Awulae Adyefi Kwame after betraying him (Awulae Agyefi) to the Presidency late last year".

The site also reported, "Madam Afeku in 2017, according to Awulae Adyefi Kwame lured him under the pretext of being invited by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo regarding his opposition to Dr Ben Asante’s appointment as the Ghana Gas Chief Executive, which later turned to be a stab in his [Awulae] back by his lovely daughter Madam Catherine Afeku for fabricating lies against him".

Setting the records straight, the Communications Director for the party, Mr. Sarfo Hayford wrote to GhanaWeb's Western Regional Correspondent that the husband of the Tourism Minister didn't pull a gun at the sub-chief during the mediation meeting held at the Nsein Traditional Council on Sunday.

The statement emphasized that the allegations leveled against the husband of the Minister were untrue, false, malicious, fabricated and mischievous all in an attempt to malign the hard won reputation of the Minister's husband and Hon. Catherine Afeku as a Minister and MP.

"We wish to state in no uncertain terms that all the allegations levelled against Mr. Afeku are untrue, false, malicious, fabricated and mischievous all in an attempt to malign the hard won reputation and the massive support Hon Afeku is enjoying in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira", the statement opined.

The statement however assured, "For the record Mr. Seth Afeku never pulled a gun at the palace. The Regional Minister, Three paramount Chiefs and the entire Community members were present for the mediation".

The party has therefore given the editor of metrotvonline.com, Mr. Kojo Emmanuel one week to provide concrete evidence or retract and apologise, failure to do so will force the party to seek for a legal action.

"We give Mr. Emmanuel Kojo one week to provide evidence or retract and apologise or face legal action for character defamation", the party has warned.

The party has, however, accused the opposition NDC in the area of hiding behind the impasse between Nsein Paramount Chief and Hon. Catherine Afeku to halt development of the Constituency.

"Our investigation reveals that some senior elements within the NDC in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira have been hiding behind the impasse between Awulae and the Hon Minister and have resorted to unwarranted mudslinging of Hon Catherine Afeku", the statement revealed.

The statement emphasized, "We want to tell the NDC who have nothing to offer Evalue Ajomoro Gwira that we are unfazed by their Machiavellian machinations".

"Under Hon Catherine Afeku's leadership the constituency is booming with development: The construction of DVLA office is ongoing, Construction of sports stadium is ongoing, major construction of sea defence wall is about to start, in fact, the contractor is on site, provision of mobile Network to entire Gwira, Construction of schools, boreholes, mechanized toilets", the statement added.

The statement also added that party will continue to live in absolute peace and harmony with the Chiefs, Queenmothers and others in the Constituency.

"The NPP in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency promises to continue to live in absolute peace and harmony with Awulaemo, Nanamo and Baahemaamo in our Constituency", the statement assured.

The party has, therefore, appealed to its members and the constituents to continue to rally behind their MP, Hon. Catherine Afeku and President Akufo-Addo to bring more developments to the area and stay our way from the NDC propaganda.

EVALUE AJOMORO GWIRA NPP EXPRESSES APPRECIATION: CONDEMNS UNFOUNDED ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MP AND HUSBAND

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency and the office of the Member Parliament who doubles as Minister of Tourism Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku wish to thank the Paramount Chief of Nsein Traditional Council Awulae Agyevi Kwame II, Nanamo, Queenmothers and the good people of Nsein for finding an amicable and lasting solution to the impasse that existed between us over the last few months.

As a party that gives absolute respect to tradition and traditional leaders, the peace accord reached means so much to us and words can not express our heartfelt appreciation enough.

It is our fervent hope that the lasting peace that existed between us and the traditional authorities is now renewed and the current peace and harmony is much stronger than ever.

Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku believes that she cannot achieve the development she seeks for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency without the support of the traditional authorities and acknowledges without any limitations that traditional authorities are paramount institutions within the development value chain.

The NPP in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency promises to continue to live in absolute peace and harmony with Awulaemo, Nanamo and Baahemaamo in our Constituency.

With unity, Evalue Ajomoro Gwira will see unprecedented development as seen around.

Our attention has been drawn to a false publication on some website portals with the heading "Minister's husband pulls out gun to kill Chief at Palace" attributed to Mr. Seth Afeku.

We wish to state in no uncertain terms that all the allegations levelled against Mr. Afeku are untrue, false, malicious, fabricated and mischievous all in an attempt to malign the hard-won reputation and the massive support Hon Afeku is enjoying in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira.

For the record Mr. Seth Afeku never pulled a gun at the palace. The Regional Minister, Three paramount Chiefs and the entire Community members were present for the mediation.

We give Mr. Emmanuel Kojo one week to provide evidence or retract and apologise or face legal action for character defamation.

Our investigation reveals that some senior elements within the NDC in Evalue Ajomoro Gwira have been hiding behind the impasse between Awulae and the Hon Minister and have resorted to unwarranted mudslinging of Hon Catherine Afeku.

We want to tell the NDC who have nothing to offer Evalue Ajomoro Gwira that we are unfazed by their Machiavellian machinations.

Their mischief has been exposed as the telephone numbers of Awulae and Nana Koomson provided in their report were fake.

Under Hon Catherine Afeku's leadership the constituency is booming with development: The construction of DVLA office is ongoing, Construction of sports stadium is ongoing, major construction of sea defence wall is about to start, in fact, the contractor is on site, provision of mobile Network to entire Gwira, Construction of schools, boreholes, mechanized toilets.

We have an MP who is visible, eloquent, bold and is always with us through with a tight schedule.

It is therefore shameful for the NDC to ride on the back of the fuss between Awulae and our MP to make unfounded allegations against our hard-working MP.

We entreat our constituents to continue to support Hon Catherine Afeku and the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP as we work hard to bring the needed development which eluded evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency and the country.

Hon. Catherine Afeku is focused and will never be distracted by such publications.

To the NDC, continue to wallow in your incompetence, cheap propaganda and stay in opposition forever.

Long live Hon Catherine
