Mankrong (C/R), July 9, GNA - All towns and villages in the Agona East District would be connected to the national electrification grid within the next two to three years.
Dr Oteng Agyei, Minister of Energy announced this at a thanksgiving service and get-together organised by Mr Kwesi Ahwoi to thank God for his appointment as Minister of Food and Agriculture at Agona Mankrong in the Central Region.
Dr Agyei noted that he had directed the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr John Oremus Arkoh, to contact his office in Accra to finalize proposals on the Electrification project.
The thanksgiving service also coincided with the 91st birthday of Mr Jonathan Kwame Hudson, an Abusuapanyin and Uncle of Mr Kwesi Ahwoi. Mr Ahwoi expressed appreciation to the President John E.A. Mills for appointing him as a Minister and pledged to work hard to increase food production in the country.
He said pragmatic policies and programmes had been put in place by his ministry to ensure that Ghana produce sufficient food for both local consumption and export.
Mr Ahwoi urged farmers in the country to take advantage of the numerous facilities government had provided to improve upon their farming activities and their living conditions. Present were Mr Kwame Peprah, a former Minister of Finance, Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu, Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Kojo Yankah, former Minister of Ashanti Region.
The rest were Mr Ato Awhoi, a former Minister of Energy, Mr Jacob Felix Obeng-Forson, Municipal Chief Executive for Agona West, and Mr John Arkoh, District Chief Executive for Agona East and other NDC party functionaries. 9 July 09
