Traders in Agbogbloshie market complain of low sales in 2012

Some Traders in the Agbogbloshie market in Accra have said sales in 2012 has not been too good but expressed the hope 2013 will be better.

They said most customers when visiting the market to purchase goods kept complaining of not having money.

Madam Afi Addo, an onion trader, told the Ghana News Agency on Friday that business is not picking up, since people are only buying few goods.

She said from morning that she came to the market; she was able to sell only GH¢50 worth of goods.

Mrs Helena Asare, a vegetable trader, also said she quite content with the day’s sales as people kept come for goods for their families.

“I can’t complain because business is better than the previous months,” she said.

Mrs Asare expressed the hope that business would improve in the coming year but was quick to add that government needed to enhance the economy for business development.

Maame Afua Aseidu, a plantain trader, said business was bad, because they could not bring their goods to the market as the roads were in a bad state.

She called on government to improve on the road network in the farming areas so that meaningful business could take place.
