Manso-Nkwanta (Ash), Oct 24, GNA - The Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Council has outlined measures to improve living standard of the people in the area.
The measures include improvement in education, regulation of funerals and the rekindling of communal labour. Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah II, the Omanhene of the Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Area, said this at a meeting with the people at Manso-Nkwanta in the Amansie West District. Planning, education and funeral committees have been formed to draw up guidelines to speed up the development of the town. Addressing the meeting Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah expressed concern about the poor performance at the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) of schools in the town and appealed to the education committee to come up with new measures to improve education in the town within 14 days.
On regulating funerals in the town, Nana Bi-Kusi Appiah said from January 1, 2006, funerals would be held on the last Saturday of every month.
He said under the new guidelines, deceased families would contribute 100,000 cedis to the funeral committee to support development projects. The Omanhene said the planning committee should team up with the assembly members and the unit committee members to ensure the development of the town.
