Nkawkaw, June 7, GNA - The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has sponsored 20 youth in the municipality to undertake training in decoration at a private cakes and decoration school at Nkawkaw. The five-day training was sponsored in collaboration with the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the National Board for Small Scale Industry (NBSSI).
The Assembly paid for the commitment fee of the 20 unemployed youth to learn a vocation to be self-employed as part of the BAC programme to create employment for the youth in the area. They were taken through internal and external decoration at weddings, out-doorings, flower ribbon making, balloon decoration, artificial and natural flower moulding among others.
The Municipal Head of the Business Advisory Centre, Mr Charles Woyome, advised the participants made up of 17 females and three males to put the knowledge acquired into practice to generate income to enhance their living standard.
He said the assembly and BAC would continue to organize such training workshop to the unemployed youth, to assist them to acquire a vocation that would help them to be self-employed.
In an address read on his behalf, the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Somuah Obeng, said the assembly would continue to create employment avenues for the unemployed youth in the municipality. He advised the youth to take advantage of such training workshops to be gainful employed.
