Otaakrom (Ash), July 20, GNA- About 29 people passed out at Otaakrom Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) after a three-month training in various vocational skills under the government's Skills Training Employable Programme (STEP).
They were taught tie and dye, soap making and bee-keeping. Mr Osei-Tutu Ababio, Manager of the Otaakrom ICCES, told the Ghana News Agency last Friday that another batch of 21 people who were undergoing similar training would soon pass out.
He said eight students who have spent three years in the school learning various skills would also pass out.
Mr Ababio enumerated some problems facing the centre as water and appealed to the government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and philanthropists to come to the aid of the centre by providing it with a borehole.
Mr Ababio said some of the students also owe the centre school fees totalling 11 million cedis.
He commended Mr Robert Palmer, a British volunteer and other donors including the Atwima district assembly for assisting the centre since 1987 to be able to achieve the modest success it had made.
