Twifo-Praso (C/R), GNA-The Twifo-Heman-Lower Denkyira district assembly, on Wednesday, ordered the closure of 12 private schools in the district, due to their poor infrastructure, environmental conditions and lack of qualified staff. The assembly's order, followed the recommendation of its educational sub committee, which inspected a total of 65 such schools in
the district, that the 12 schools, some of whose structures were only of palm leaves and others in very dilapidated states were 'death traps and a health hazard.
The schools are the Good Shepherd and Heirs of God at Mfuom, Christ Ebenezer at Heman, Stoughton International, Jukwa Krobo, Jesus Saves, Asensuso Shed and God's Power International at Praso No. 9. The rest are Christ the King, at Morkwaa, Sound Foundation, Osegyena, Church of Christ International, Kayireku, Bless Edu Centre, Eduabeng, Abandeneu Preparatory and Christ Assurance Institute, both at Twifo-Praso.
Earlier, the district director of education, Ms Regina Longdon and a member of the sub-committee, who briefed the assembly on the findings of the sub-committee, said it found that 31 of the schools were registered with the Ghana Education Service, while the remaining 34 had not registered. 14 July, 05
