Twifo-Praso (C/R), Jan. 11, GNA- The Twifo Praso branch of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) is to arrest all drivers who are not members of the union but pick passengers from the main lorry park. A seven-member task force headed by Nana Abaka, chairman of the union has therefore been formed to arrest the recalcitrant drivers. Addressing members of the Union at Twifo Praso at the weekend, Nana Abaka appealed to commercial vehicle owners to ensure that their drivers register with the union to enable their vehicles to patronise the lorry park.

He appealed to the Department of Highways to stop communities in the Twifo-Heman-Lower-Denkyira District from erecting unauthorised speed ramps.

Nana Abaka said reports reaching his office indicated that about 50 unauthorised speed ramps have been erected from Jukwa to Praso. He said since the ramps were not properly constructed it caused damage to vehicles and sometimes accidents.

Nana Abaka warned drivers plying in the nearby communities from overcharging and warned that any driver reported for doing so would be handed over to police.

He appealed to drivers to ensure that their vehicles are road worthy, observe traffic regulations and desist from unnecessary overtaking to avoid accidents.
