Twifo Praso (C/R), Nov.30, GNA - The Mother and Child Foundation in Accra, has presented clothing worth over six million cedis to the La-Twins Children's Home at Twifo Praso in the Central Region. Madam Martha Ama Oboh, a representative of the Women and Children's Affair (MOWAC) at Twifo Praso, presented the five mattresses and used clothing on behalf on the Foundation.

Presenting the items at the Home's premises at the weekend, Madam Oboh said in view of the Home's quest for assistance to better the inmate's lot, the Foundation deemed it expedient to make the donation. She noted the Home's concern for orphans and the needy, and therefore, appealed to other benevolent organizations to emulate the gesture.

Mr. Mustapha Okine, Social Welfare District Officer who witnessed the presentation, asked the authorities of the Home to put the items to good use.

Mr. Charles Therson-Cofie, Managing Proprietor of the institution, was grateful to the donors. He stressed that the Home was experiencing accommodation crises, because each season that there was an increase in enrolment, land lords of the rented premises frustrated the smooth administration of the Home, by increasing rent.

The Proprietor noted that such a habit was not going to benefit the orphans and the needy in the area, saying, "these orphans have no money to pay for any fees" Mr. Therson-Cofie regrettably pointed out that at present, "we have been ejected from one of our premises, while the district office of SSNIT at Assin Fosu is also dragging us to court". He therefore, appealed to the district assembly to assist the institution to enable it to carry out its noble objectives.
