Twine Amanfo SHS bids farewell to headmistress

Sunyani (B/A) Feb. 7, GNA - The Board of Governors of the Twene Aman= fo Senior High/Technical School (TASTECH) in Sunyani, has organized a send-off party to the outgoing headmistress of the school honouring her for her sens= e of discipline and academic excellence.

Mr Joseph Yeboah, Chairman of the Board, said Mrs Georgina Boakye, who is on transfer to Sunyani Senior High School (SUSEC) after a seven year sta= y at TASTECH, had worked to expectation. "You and I will bear with me right that she has duly played her leadership role to the admiration of all as the congenial academic environment created by the expansion of infrastructure in the school through her efforts should be a pointer to a good work done by her", he said. Mr Yeboah thanked Mrs Boakye for her selfless devotion to duty and advised her carry on at her new station.

Mr Gordon Osei Marfo, Assistant Headmaster in-charge of Academic said three years after Mrs Boakey entered the school as a Geography tutor, she rose to become the Assistant Headmistress (Administration) and was promoted as Headmistress (Academic) after another three years till the year 2003 whe= n she became the substantive headmistress. Mr Marfo noted that the sporting rivalry between TASTECH and SUSEC had not been cordial and expressed the hope that the transfer of Mrs Boakye to SUSEC would help to diffuse the tension between the two institutions. He stressed that 93in the interest of good sportsmanship and good relationship between the two schools, please let us have a cease fire and avoid war". Mrs Boakye expressed appreciation for the honour done her and promised to continue to help to develop SUSEC.

The in-coming headmaster of TASTECH, Peter Hayford Appiah, who was formally introduced at the ceremony, promised to continue to build from where Mrs Boakye had left off and called for the cooperation of the management, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the students. Gifts including cash were presented to Mrs Boakye. Mr Kwame Amakye, a former chief security of the school, who retired after 15 years of service, was also honoured at the ceremony.
