Two Churches honour traditional ruler

Two Orthodox Churches at Asante-Juaben, have honoured a traditional ruler for his meritorious services towards the development and growth of the area.

Nana Dr Appiagyei Dankawoso, Linguist (Okyeame) of Nana Otuo Sereboe the Second, Omanhene of the Asante-Juaben Traditional Area, was honoured at Juaben by the Anglican and Wesley Methodist on different occasions.

The Anglican Church bestowed an honour on Nana Dankawoso sometime in December last year, while the Methodist Church recognized his immense contributions and honoured him in August this year.

Nana Dankawoso, who is also the Managing Director of Marine and General Insurance Brokers Limited in Accra, and Second Vice President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, constructed a Sanctuary with tiles for the Anglican community, resulting in his honour by the congregation.

The Juaben Wesley Society honoured Okyeame Dankawoso for his love for choral music, and his numerous contributions to the worship life to the Methodist Church as a whole.

Assisted by Mr Thomas Afram, Music Director, Very Reverend Sampson Obeng Adjei, and Superintendent Minister of the Juaben Wesley Methodist Church, presented Nana Dankawoso, a choir master himself, with a beautiful citation.

The Church recognized Nana “as a chorister who became a Choir Master; and spearheaded the establishment and strengthening of Methodist Choirs. Nana’s generosity to humanity and to Christ’s Church cannot be over-emphasized.”

Aside these two awards, Nana Dankawoso whose hobbies are Choral Music and Hymns, has received seven other honours.

In October 2005, the Car Rental Association of Ghana honoured Nana for his innovative ideas.

In May 2006, Princess Marie Louise Hospital (Children’s Hospital), recognized Nana for his dedicated and loyal services on the accasion of the hospital’s 80th anniversary.

In February 2007, on its Golden Jubilee Anniversary, the Offinso Training College where he had his Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ education from 1993 to 1996, honoured him for his immense contributions to the development of the College.

In February 2008, the Asante-Effiduasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, at its 10 th anniversary, honoured Nana for his dedication, and meritorious services.

The Juaben Senior High School, his alma mater, in March 2008, recognized Nana Kyeame’s dedication to duty, and honoured him at the school's 36th Anniversary and Second Speech and Prize-Giving Day

In December 2011, the Juaben Traditional Council honoured him as a member of the 40th anniversary planning committee of Nana Otuo Siriboe.

The California (Oakland Market Street) branch of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in August 2013 bestowed a humanitarian and excellence award on Nana Dankawoso
