Two National Service personnel in the Sissala West District have been commended by the Niator community for their commitment to duty and display of selfless service to the community.

The two are, Prince Asamoah and Eric Odei, who have ended their service at the Niator Basic School in the Sissala West District

Kuoro Barecheh Nlowie Baninye II, the Acting President of the Buwa Traditional Council, who is the Divisional Chief of Niator, gave the commendation on behalf of the Pupils, colleague teachers and the entire community during a send-off party organized for them by the community on Friday.

The Chief did not only praise the two service personnel for accepting posting to the remote community but also for staying in the community to teach without frequent travels out of the area although they came from an entirely different cultural background.

Kuoro Nlowie Baninye was also grateful to the two for donating a school bell, school batch and a Ghana flag as well as designing a school flag for the school.

The Acting President of the Buwa Traditional Council appealed to other students, who were about to do their National Service to emulate the example of the two by accepting postings to rural communities.

He appealed to the National Service Secretariat to post service personnel to remote communities where their services were badly needed.

The two service personnel thanked the chief and members of the community for their wonderful support during their stay in the community.

The Head teacher of the school, Mr. Issahaku Yussif Hariwie, outlined the challenges facing the school which includes the lack of a Junior High School (JHS) block, teachers’ quarters, teaching and learning materials and potable water.

He appealed to the authorities to include the school in the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) and also address these challenges to make teaching and learning comfortable for both the pupils and the teachers.**
