Two appears before court for murder

Aflao, Sept 16, GNA - Two persons, Emmanuel Ametepe, 54, and Kodzo Yegbe, 27, appeared before the Aflao Circuit Court on Monday for allegedly murdering one Andrew Yegbe, 35, by slitting his throat over a piece of land at Anyieme, near Akatsi.

Their plea was not taken and were remanded in Polic custody to re-appear on September 29, this year.

Chief Inspector Pious Cudjoe of Akatsi Police told the court, presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that the deceased and the accused persons and four others on the run live in Anyieme, at one side, and the deceased, at the other side, were litigating over a piece of land.

He said the deceased returned from a funeral at about 7pm on Saturday, September 7, this year and had the information that the accused persons were removing his boundary pillars from the said land.

Chief Inspector Cudjoe said the deceased rushed there to confront the accused persons, resulting in a quarrel during which Andrews Yegbe (deceased) shot and wounded one Richard Nutsiagbor with a locally manufactured pistol.

He said the same day, Ametepe brought a gun along with him to the Police Station to report that Andres Yegbe (deceased) had shot his son Nutsiagbor, who was on admission at the Abor Sacred Heart Hospital and fled.

Inspector Cudjoe said the following day, one Julius Hude reported to the Police that Andres Yegbe, his brother, had been murdered on the disputed land.

He said when Police followed up, they found Andrews Yegbe's body in supine position in a pool of blood with his throat slit and two live ammunitions beside his body.

Inspector Cudjoe said the Police subsequently arrested Kodzo Yegbe and Ametepe, while the four remained at large.

He said the body has been deposited at the Abor Sacred Heart Hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
