Awutu Beraku (C/R) Sept. 16 GNA - Two Chiefs on Friday swore allegiance to the Omanhene of the Awutu Traditional Area, Nai Agyemang Wyettey Otabi III after the performance of the necessary customary rites.
The new chiefs, Nai Adawu Duaguage VII and Nai Kao Pobie Abunan VII now occupies the positions of Tufohene and Nifahene respectively of the Traditional Council that became vacant some years back. Addressing the new chiefs, the Omanhene urged them to cooperate with their colleagues and the people in the area to ensure peace and rapid development.
He told them that in the performance of their duties, they should let the chieftaincy Acts guide them in order not to do anything contrary to the aspiration of the people.
The Omanhene advised the people in the area to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to enjoy free medical care when they attend hospital.
The Queen mother of the Traditional Area, Naatse Awo Kokroko II, appealed to the people, especially the youth not to indulge in indiscriminate sex to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS or Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Some Asafo companies in the Traditional Area were among those present at the ceremony.
