Two communities refuse to be part of Nanumaba South District

Nabayili, (N/R), Sept. 10, GNA - Two communities in the newly created Nanumba South District have expressed their dissatisfaction at being made parts of the newly created Nanumaba District and had therefore asked the government to reconsider its decision.

The people of the two farming communities made up of Nabayili and Kalsorgu said, they were more nearer to Bimbilla, the capital of Nanumba North than Wulensi, the district capital of the newly created district.

The people of the two communities made this known, when Mr Ernest Debrah Northern Regional Minister undertook a three days familiarization visit of the two districts to interact with the people and learn at first hand their developmental needs.

The Regional Ministers' visit took him to communities including Bincheratanga, Langa, Sabongida, Nakpa, Makayili, Dipa, Chamba, Dapkem and Tali in Nanumba North District and Wulensi, Binda, Dapuli, Nasamba, Gbingbaliga and Lungni in the newly created Nanumba South District among others.

They wondered why, the two communities that are only a few kilometres from Bimbilla were placed under Wulensi, which was far away from them and expressed the fear that they would not be given a fair distribution of the development projects.

In all the communities he visited the people made request for the provision of social infrastructure such schools, clinics, construction of roads, water and the extension of the national grid to their areas.

Mr Ernest Debrah, Northern Regional Minister said the purpose of the creation of the new districts is to accelerate the pace of development, adding, the government would continue to create more districts to hasten national development.

He impressed upon the people on the need to maintain the peace in the communities and the region in general, saying:" Peace and Development are bedfellows and without peace there cannot be development".

Mr Debrah advised the youth in particular to desist from engaging in acts of violence, especially during political campaigns, saying:" Any politician who comes to do politics of division or infighting amongst you is an enemy."

He appealed to the people to learn to tolerate and accommodate one-another saying: "Fighting does not win elections, it is the thumb that wins elections".

Mr Debrah said, no government in the history of this country had performed so credibly like the NPP government within its short period of three and a half years and added that, because of this the good people of Ghana would return the party to power comes December.
