The University of Cape Coast, has presented GH¢ 2,000 to Thomas Vincent Cann, a TV 3 reporter in Cape Coast who has been diagnosed with an end-stage kidney disease.

Presenting the cash to him on behalf of management of the University, the Public Relations Officer, Major Kofi Baah-Bentum (rtd) said, the University had a good working relationship with him as a reporter with TV3, and therefore it was appropriate to lend a helping hand to him.

Major Baah-Bentum assured him that the University was solidly behind him in these challenging moments of his life, and will continue to pray for him. It was their hope and prayer that the Good Lord will get him out of the situation soon.”

Major Baah-Bentum also said the University would raise additional funds to cater for his medical bills. In response, Mr. Cann expressed gratitude to the University for the support, and pointed out that the cost for dialysis and medication in a week alone was GH¢ 1,000.

He promised to establish a Kidney Foundation if he recovered from the disease, and therefore used the opportunity to call on government to also pay attention to persons with kidney diseases, since the rate of infection was becoming alarming. Present at the function, were some staff of the University.
