The University for Development Studies (UDS) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with J- Prompt Professional Institute of Technology (JPIT), to run some courses.

As part of the agreement, UDS would act as a mentor and provide certificates to students who pursue Physician Assistant and Information Technology Programmes through JPIT whilst JPIT would also collaborate with UDS to develop competency objectives and provide the appropriate resources for effective and efficient learning.

Professor Gabriel Teye, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), who initialed for the UDS, said this was the university’s first affiliation with another school to run courses.

He said UDS’ affiliation with JPIT would enable JPIT to award degrees in BSc. in Information Technology and Advanced Diploma in Medical Assistantship, which the UDS was already offering.

Mr Joseph Adjei, Group President of the JPIT said its collaboration with the UDS would enable the institute to develop competency objectives and provide the appropriate resources, which would ensure effective and efficient learning for Physician Assistant and I.T students.

He said JPIT was happy about the partnership with the UDS saying: “We have a lot of technology and education which would later be used for training distance education students”.

Mr Adjei noted that some of the courses would be offered in Accra by JPIT so that students would not have to travel to Tamale for their studies.

Dr Eric Amuah, Head of Training of JPIT, said the relationship was mutually beneficial and that Diploma students of the institute now have the opportunity to do Top Up courses, leading to degrees and masters.

Dr Amuah indicated that the relationship would not only lift the name of UDS higher, but also that of JPIT, adding that, the institute was looking forward to a fruitful and long lasting relationship with the UDS.

“Our objective is to become the number one-stop-shop for students and other professionals, who aim to attain the highest level of qualifications in an excellent professional educational institution like ours”.

J-Prompt Professional Institute of Technology is a professional and academic tutorial college based in Accra and was currently affiliated to many well known accredited institutions.
