UGAG cautions unemployed youth to stay out of trouble

Sat, 3 Aug 2013 Source: UGAG

The Unemployed Graduates Association of Ghana would like to urge its members and the general public to accept the outcome of the Presidential Election Petition. We, as the youth of this country have always stood for peace, understanding and the well-being of all citizens. Before and after the December 7th elections, we called on all members and non-members to endeavour to eschew all forms of violence.

At this crucial time where we are all eagerly awaiting the verdict of the judges on the issue in coming weeks, we are sending a note of caution to our members to be on the look out for evil-minded persons who might wish to take advantage of the current plight of the unemployed graduate in this country and use such graduates to cause unrest in the country. We dissociate ourselves from any attempt by any person, group or political party to disrupt the peaceful nature of our dear nation.

However, we also want to express our displeasure about the fact that, even though we showed our interest in being enrolled and trained as polling agents, we were not contacted and instead people who were not trained properly and were not literate enough were used. This, we believe, is one of the major reasons why the entire nation has now been plunged in this dilemma. Had graduates been used instead, the outcome would have been different from what we are witnessing now.

The association wishes to assure all unemployed graduates to keep faith beause we have not relented in our quest to bring their predicaments to the door step of the government of the day and all stakeholders. As such no member of this association should be seen to be engaging in the bidding and campaigning of some political parties at the detriment of the nation.

Short live UGAG, Long Live Ghana!

Signed:

Desmond Bress-Biney

(Director of Operations)
