Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), United Kingdom( UK) is to partner the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled to provide expertise in the production and sale of chalk in the country.
Expertise to be provided by CIM UK include the provision of laminated boxes which would be used in packaging large quantity of chalk to avert the invasion of termites and provide marketing skills to boost the sale of the product.
CIM UK made the pledge after donating GH¢2,000.00 to the society at a ceremony in Accra.
Mr Joe Ala Adjetey, Vice President of CIM, UK who made the presentation, said the donation was to assist members of the society in their chalk production.
He said the donation would mark the beginning of a good relationship between the society and CIM, UK adding members would schedule a meeting very soon to support the society with expertise.
Mr Elvis Kosi Alipui, Production Manager of the Chalk Factory the Society is operating, called for support to fight termites that had destroyed cartons of chalk produced by the Society in their warehouse in Accra.
Mr Alipui said so far 18,000 boxes of chalk have been destroyed by the termites and this is hampering the Society’s ability to supply the Ghana Education Service, its main client, with the needed quantity of their products.
He said the Society therefore needed the support of public-spirited individuals and organisations to assist them in their production.
Mr Alipui said the Society needed more machines to produce more chalk to meet demand.
