UTAG branch of University of Education buys bus

Winneba, Dec 18, GNA - The National President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Dr. Samuel Asiedu-Addo, has said the association was poised to foster close collaboration with University authorities to market their institutions to the outside world. He therefore appealed to UTAG members to remain committed and dedicated to duty in the quest to produce the high quality manpower needed for accelerated national development.

Dr. Asiedu-Addo, a senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), said this during a ceremony to inaugurate a 15-seater bus for the UEW branch of UTAG.

The vehicle was bought with money realized from 160 Ghana cedis each member contributed.

Dr. Asiedu-Addo commended UTAG members for donating generously towards the purchase of the vehicle and advised them to allow the unity of purpose to prevail at all times.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw who inaugurated the bus, praised the effort of the branch for showing the way as they are the first in the country to buy their own vehicle.

He also commended members for their cordial relationship with University authorities and urged them not to relent in their efforts in the quest for good quality education delivery in the country. Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw assured UTAG members of the University's preparedness to provide them with a permanent office to spearhead the smooth operation of the association.
