Ultra modern administrative block for Abokobi

Abokobi (G/A), Oct.11, GNA - Government has given approval for the construction of an ultra modern administrative block for the newly created Ga East District.

Sheikh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, who announced this on Sunday said this was in line with government plans to provide a holistic infrastructure for all the newly created districts.

Sheikh Quaye was speaking at a special thanksgiving service to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Abokobi Community and the Zimmermann Presbyterian Church at Abokobi in the Greater Accra Region. He said government had given approval for the rehabilitation of a number of primary and junior secondary school blocks the district.

"As your Regional Minister, I wish to assure you that you will not be left out in the upgrading of district hospitals and the second cycle schools."

The Regional Minister said the road network to Abokobi would be rehabilitated.

Sheikh Quaye expressed his gratitude to the Chief and people for providing the District with temporary offices and large acres of land for the construction of permanent office and residential accommodation for the staff of the District Assembly.

Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, said the District had enormous tourist attractions, which would be developed to generate employment wealth for the people.

Nii Samuel Adjetey Mohenu, Chief of Abokobi, expressed concern about the lack of adequate senior secondary and vocational schools in the area and appealed to the Government to reverse the situation.
