Accra, Nov. 26, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday remanded into prison custody a 22-year-old unemployed for allegedly robbing two shops with four others at gunpoint in Accra.
Roger Kobla Agbodoga and his accomplice, Yaw Anani, a driver who was absent from Court, have been jointly charged with conspiracy and robbery. The Court was told that Anani had been remanded by another court in connection with another incident.
The court chaired by Mr Williwise Kyeremeh did not take the plea of Agbodoga. He is to reappear on December 22.
The facts as presented by Chief Inspector Benedicta Akolgo were that complainants in the case were traders owing two shops at Kanda, while Agbodoga and Anani were staying at Sukura and Alajo, respectively.
On October 23 at about 1600 hours five armed robbers with AK 47 assault rifle and a locally manufactured pistol parked a saloon car in front of the complainant's shops.
The robbers divided themselves into two groups of two and three and entered the shops and at gunpoint took away snap cards, a mobile phone, computer accessories and cash totalling about 6.7 million cedis.
They fired warning shots and fled the scene with their booty.
Prosecution said on October 24 the Police impounded the car from one Anthony Versa following investigations.
On November 18 an identification parade was held and the two complainants identified the two accused persons.
Meanwhile efforts are being made to arrest the other robbers, who are at large.
