Busunya (B/A), Sept. 10, GNA - Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, Nkoranza North District Chief Executive, has asked unemployed youth to take advantage of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) modules and acquire employable skills.

He advised Ghanaians not to politicize the NYEP since it had been initiated to ensure the development of the youth irrespective of their party affiliations.

Mr. Agyei-Dwomor addressed more than 300 youth from the district at Busunya, and presented 32 sewing machines to those who had completed six months training in dressmaking.

He said government was spending huge sums of money on the NYEP and asked the youth to take advantage of it and improve their lifestyles 93since the devil finds ways for every idle hand".

Mr. Kofi Adu, Nkoranza North District Coordinator of the Programme, said that 235 youth in the district had been employed under the NYEP as health and teaching assistants, community police, sanitation guards and fire service personnel.

He said 178 youth were being trained as mechanics, computer and mobile phone repairers as well as hairdressers and dressmakers. Mr Adu commended the Asongtaba Cottage Industry and Exchange Programme, based at Tema, for supporting the NYEP.

The chief of Busunya, Nana Okofo Nyarko Gyabaa II, commended government for taking steps to create jobs for the youth and appealed to young people to take advantage of the NYEP and harness their potentials.
