Kumasi, June 14, GNA - Some unidentified persons on Monday morning dumped a man suspected to have been assaulted by a mob and in a critical condition at the Kumasi South Hospital at Kyirapatre and vanished.
A security source at the hospital told the Ghana News Agency that three men brought the man in a car and left him at the gate without a word to anybody and drove off.
Dr Frank Abebrese, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, told the GNA that the hospital was treating the man because he had the right to life and medical care.
He said the victim bled profusely, was in a state of shock and had multiple lacerations all over the body.
Dr Abebrese said the Asokwa police had been informed to investigate the matter and also provide security for the victim to prevent anybody or group of people from coming to the hospital to further harm him. Chief Superintendent Johnson Owusu Agyemang, the District Police Commander, told the GNA that one Michael Webu, a 45-year-old mechanic, claimed he was attacked at his residence near the Kumasi Abattoir on Monday night.
Later in an interview with the victim at the hospital, he gave his name as Mohammed Awudu, 39, and a labourer at the Kumasi Abattoir.
