Accra 07 Nov, GNA - Unilever Ghana Limited on Wednesday donated 400 cartons of Omo worth 50 million cedis to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to improve hygienic conditions at the hospital.
Mrs. Vicky Wireko-Andoh Corporate Relations Manager who made the presentation on behalf of the company said, 94the maternity and children wards had been singled out in the presentation because the needs of the patients to those wards always had a soft spot in everybody's heart.
She said the company was aware of the financial difficulties coupled with pressure from patients all over the country on the hospital, hence the inability to provide facilities to fulfil the expectations of the hospital in the sub-region Mrs. Wireko-Andoh said that deficiency of the hospital had, especially left the children's and maternity blocks in an unhygienic state, making patients vulnerable to infections.
=93As a company that produces detergents for cleanliness and hygiene, we have thought through the needs of these two wards and want to show some love and care and at the same time make a difference in the general environment of the wards in question.=94 She added. Mrs. Grace Barnes, Director of Nursing at the hospital who received the items, thanked the management of Unilever and expressed the hope that the products would go a long way to solve some of the problems at the hospital.
