Kumasi, March 7, GNA - Professor John Aheto, a Finance and Management Consultant, has called on public and private university lecturers to constantly interact and share knowledge to enhance the quality of the country's tertiary education. University education in contemporary times, he said, had become more globalized and research-based and for that matter it was important faculty members' ensured collaboration but not to work in isolation. Prof Aheto, who was delivering a public lecture organized by the Ghana Baptist University College (GBUC) in Kumasi on Monday, said they needed to share research experience and relevant knowledge to improve their output. Prof Aheto noted the significant contribution being made towards the promotion of higher education - giving access to a majority of students, wh= o otherwise would have found it difficult, to gain admission into the public universities. He encouraged the universities to introduce more vibrant programmes that would be responsive to the development needs of the country. Professor Aheto also underlined the need for faculty members to help their students to go into research to broaden their scope of knowledge. This, he said, would enable them to develop critical minds to solve development challenges of the nation. Reverend Dr Kojo Osei-Wusu, President of the College, said the authorities would continue to be development-oriented, adding that, they ha= d planned to introduce more courses to meet the growing industrial needs.
