The University of Ghana School of Law, in collaboration with the Speech Forces Organization and with the support of the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, has announced the launch of the 2024 edition of the Ghana Secondary Schools Moot Court Competition.

This prestigious event, now in its fifth edition, aims to create greater awareness among schools and communities in Ghana about the Constitution and the values it embodies through active participation.

The competition provides a unique platform for young people to develop their research, writing, and oral advocacy skills as they grapple with constitutional issues that are currently facing the nation.

It also serves as an excellent opportunity to inspire talented young individuals to consider pursuing a career in law.

The competition is structured into written and oral rounds. All senior high schools in Ghana are invited to send a team of two students to submit two essays, each presenting a view on the set hypothetical question.

A panel of experts will evaluate the submissions and select the thirty best entries.

The schools with the best submissions will be invited to the preliminary oral rounds, held at the University of Ghana School of Law.

The winners of these rounds will then compete in the final round at the Court of Appeal, Accra, before the Justices of the Superior Courts of Judicature.

Last year's competition was won by Aburi Girls Senior High School, with the 2022 Champions, PRESEC Legon, finishing as finalists.

This year's edition promises to be even more exciting and competitive, taking place from August 15 to August 17, 2024.
